"SWIPE RIGHT"

NEW FULL-LENGTH MUSICAL THEATER PROJECT

bonsai, juniper, moon bowl

“SWIPE RIGHT” is a new full-length musical I’m currently working on with my long-time writing partner Elizabeth Coleman (book and lyrics).

Elizabeth is a proud American currently living in Switzerland, while I am in New Zealand, but communication in all our projects has always been easy, since we started collaborating long-distance several years before Covid, forcing us to rely on digital tools and remote work.

The book for the new show is already written and we are currently immersed in the exciting process of writing the new songs.

It’s a heart-warming and very funny story set in present-time San Francisco, dealing with the challenges posed by the tyranny of the digital world all around us, the extreme digital dependency/addiction many people suffer, and how it affects our social and personal life, altering the way we see the world, our interactions with those around us, and more importantly, with ourselves.

I will be providing updates about the writing process, as well as excerpts and song samples as they become available.

"A CHILDHOOD IN THE LIFE OF A SLAVE GIRL"

NEW SHORT MUSICAL THEATER PROJECT

A dramatic episode set in 1825, during the slavery period in North Carolina (United States)

black, white, sepia

“A CHILDHOOD IN THE LIFE OF A SLAVE GIRL” is a new short musical I’m currently working on with my writing partner Sissy van Dyke (book and lyrics).

We have already completed the book and score and will soon start promoting the show. We are in the process of recording song demos and building a digital presence to provide more information about the show.

Sissy lives in the United States and I’m in New Zealand, but that has never been an issue, thanks to the beauty of digital technology, helping us to stay in touch (although there’s little we can do about the crazy time zone differences)

The book is based on true events and brings to life a powerful dramatic story, set in North Carolina in 1825.

The story follows a family of slaves (a little girl and her grandmother) in their daily struggles and their interactions with the elderly plantation owner. Their life is one of constant suffering, but through it all, they never lose hope of one day becoming free.

A beautiful and moving story that will leave no one indifferent.

Stay tuned for more exciting news as the play goes soon into production.

XAVIERVIDALWORLD.COM GOES LIVE

music, treble clef, treble

It’s finally here. After a long gestation period, my website is finally up and live.

My main goal is for it to become a useful tool to connect with anyone who shares my interest in music or literature, and to provide them with a glimpse into my humble contributions in those fields.

On the website, you will find samples of my work, past and present, and also information about the projects which I’m currently working on, and those that are in the pipeline.

You will also find links to my currently published books, available from all major book sellers and distributors.
