In 1913, Barcelona was a city in social and cultural turmoil. A few months after the unexplainable disappearance of Subinspector Morillo in a mysterious Casino hidden in the mountains, Inés will be hunted by a sinister secret organization that has spent centuries searching for a mysterious object that can forever alter the balance of power in the world.
Given the lack of any official explanation, and determined to find out what happened to Morillo, she will enlist the help of some unlikely allies in a dangerous quest that will take her from the Barcelona streets to the island of Mallorca, where she will be hunted mercilessly by a group of assassins.
Her adventure will take her to some unique places like the mythical Carthusian monastery of Valldemossa (where during the winter of 1838, Chopin resided with his lover George Sand, seeking tranquility and inspiration) or some spectacular Majorcan caves and underground lakes.
INVESTIGATING MORILLO'S DISAPPEARANCE, INÉS WILL FACE ONE OF THE GREATEST SECRETS OF EUROPEAN HISTORY
THE FIGHT FOR INDEPENDENCE IS A FLAME THAT WILL NEVER EXTINGUISH
An exciting adventure that will take you to the Palau de la Música in Barcelona, a jewel of Catalan Art Nouveau, to the centuries-old Monastery of the Cartuja de Valldemossa in Mallorca, and to majestic settings of the Majorcan geography, such as some of its spectacular caverns and underground lakes.
BRIEF HISTORICAL CONTEXT IN
"CHOPIN'S SECRET"
The Cartuja de Valldemossa is built on a royal palace dating from 1309, and was converted into a Monastery in 1399.
The pianist Frédéric Chopin and his lover, the writer George Sand, stayed in one of the cells of the Monastery, where they spent the winter of 1838-39.
The fight for Polish independence from the domination of the Russian Tsar is the setting in which the events that begin the novel unfold.
The "Great Emigration" was the exodus of intellectuals, writers, musicians, artists and other patriots who left Poland after the failure of the 1831 uprising for independence from Russia.
For Inés it was time to start a new chapter, to go on living, and for that, she had to forget, to learn to live with that emptiness. She didn't know if she could do it, but she had to try. She had to forget Morillo.
