Two archaeologists travel 500 years back in time to Emperor Moctezuma’s Aztec Empire at the time of the Spanish Conquest.
Set in the XVIth century, the arrival of the Spanish conquistadors to the city of Tenochtitlan, the magnificent Aztec capital, will trigger the clash of two powerful cultures, bringing a splendorous era to a tragic end.
Among such destruction, a young Aztec princess and one of the Spanish Conquistadors will fight to keep their love alive while the world around them is falling apart.

WHERE DID OUR LOVE GO?
(Xavier Vidal)
A slightly Brazilian-flavored version of one of the songs from the show. The character sings about lost love and deception after realizing her love for the Commander in Chief of the conquistadors will never be corresponded.
The amazing Eva Kaue does a heartfelt rendition of the song.

SOMETHING TO REMEMBER
(Xavier Vidal)
A song I wrote in 2019 for an NMI workshop.
A desperate father sings about the loss of his young son a few years earlier. Even his own wife wants to turn the page and throw away anything that reminds her of their lost son.
Even though memories tend to fade with the passage of time, the father doesn’t want to let go, and still holds on to every little thing around the house to remember him by.
I was fortunate to have Dylan Andrews singing in this demo, recorded long-distance between the UK and New Zealand during the 2020 Covid lockdown. A great actor and an amazing professional singer, Dylan offers a passionate and moving rendition of the song.

WHEN IT'S TIME
TO SAY GOODBYE
(Xavier Vidal)
I wrote this song in 2009 as a homage to a colleague who passed away unexpectedly. He was the Dean at an East Coast university where I was studying at the time.
He was involved in many humanitarian programs and initiatives in several African countries.
I wanted to pay a tribute to his life of service and dedication to others by writing a song that was played in his memorial as the soundtrack of a video homage.
The song talks about the emotions we all feel when the time comes to say our final goodbye to our loved ones.
Lisa Kindig, who also knew the man, graciously contributed with her vocal talents to the recording.

NEW MUSICAL THEATER PROJECTS
A short musical we have just finished writing, with book and lyrics by my collaborator Sissy van Dyke. We have written an emotional and touching score that will bring to life a poignant and dramatic story around slavery, set in North Carolina (USA) in 1825.
A full-length musical I’m writing together with my long-time collaborator Elizabeth Coleman (book and lyrics) and currently under development. Set in the present time, it’s a moving and fun story about how to find the true meaning of life in a crazy digital world ruled by the tyranny of superficial perceptions, stereotypes, and physical image.
